TNF India – South Session on Simplify, Synergise and Scale with Cognitive Analytics and AI

Tata Insights and Quants (Tata iQ), a division of Tata Industries, hosted a TNF India - South event on May 23rd, 2019 at the Vivanta Bengaluru, Whitefield. The theme of the session was “Simplify, Synergise and Scale with Cognitive Analytics and AI”. Over sixty leaders from fourteen Tata Group Companies spanning business units, business functions, analytics and innovation attended the event.

Dr. Kingshuk Banerjee, Director – Cognitive Computing and Analytics Practice, IBM Global Business Services delivered the keynote address on the possibilities of Cognitive analytics and AI.

Tata Insights and Quants demonstrated the use of ML and AI in predictive asset maintenance, predictive quality management and process & logistics route optimizations in the manufacturing industry. Tata iQ also showcased how AI is helping drive superior user experience through intuitive conversational virtual assistant support.

Tata Consultancy Services highlighted how it can help organizations by providing cleansed and standardized data with a set of data quality management capabilities and enables name and address master creation.

TNF India – South Session on Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence

On February 12, 2019, Tata Insights and Quants, a division of Tata Industries (Tata iQ), hosted a TNF India - South event on Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Department heads and leaders from analytics, technology, innovation and business units from various Tata companies attended the event.

The keynote speaker for the event was Ramkumar Narayanan, VP - Technology and Managing Site Director, VMware. Mr Narayanan spoke of the use of Machine Learning (ML) and AI in driving business results and objectives in a fast changing digitalised world. He spoke of the role of computing on the Edge, which is the practice of processing data closer to where the data is being generated (csuch as IoT sensorsc), rather than of doing so on a centralised data warehouse or server. He also highlighted trends in the industry pointing to an integrated world, sharing the systems provided by VMware.

Satrajit Kar, Deputy Delivery Head, Tata iQ, demonstrated the use of ML and AI in predictive asset maintenance, predictive quality management and process & logistics route optimizations in the manufacturing industry. Drawing from his experience with Tata Steel, Mr Kar spoke of various areas within the industry, such as steel making, casting and wire drawing, where ML and AI was successfully applied in driving business objectives. Tata iQ demonstrated how ML and AI is helping drive superior user experience in the analytics assets and accelerators it has developed such as chatbots and dashboards.
